Or is this just the inflammation going away?

Laser gingivectomy results in very little inflammtion and swelling.

Therefore, you should not see a huge drop in the gum level.

However, a little bit more of the crowns will get exposed when the area cleans up.

Should I avoid heavy lifting after PRK laser eye surgery?

Question by Adam: Should I avoid heavy lifting after PRK laser eye surgery?
I’m mainly referring to lifting I need to do at work (moving boxes of British product around, stocking shelves, lifting fruit baskets, etc).

Also, I’m wondering how long until I can start doing push-ups again?
I had the surgery done 8 days ago and I went back to work today so I started to wonder.

I’m sure the surgeon gave you that information before surgery. If you haven’t had the operation yet, s/he will tell you at the time s/he sees you.
It’s best to take it easy for a few days. I know I’d much rather lose my job, than my eyesight.

Help for my mom’s intense dry eyes after lasik?

Question by HelpMePlease: Help for my mom’s intense dry eyes after lasik?
My mother had lasik eye surgery last year and something went terribly wrong. It didn’t make her vision get better and now she has extremely dry eyes constantly. It affects her entire life. Sometimes, she says she feels her eyes are so dry that they are dead. Obviously, the eye doctor did something terribly wrong in her vision. I want to find help for her. Is there anything she can do to live a normal life now? She is putting in special eye drops every five minutes and her eyes still bother her tremondously. She does not want to sue the eye surgeon because doctors have told her that she “can’t prove that the eye doctor messed up”. What would you suggest we do?

Dear Tim H, This is most common after lasik eye surgery.Blinking keeps the normal cornea evenly wet. After lasik surgery cornea loses its smoothness resulting in uneven distribution of tears.Dry eyes may be permanent.Succesful treatments for dry eyes including artificial tears, prescription tears and punctal occlusion.Punctal occlusion is accomplished by placing a collagen plug in the natural drain of the eye. Some cases of dry eyes cannot be succesfully mitigated with these methods.
