Question by KaN: Has anyone ever had permanent darker spots as a result from laser surgery for brown spots (scars)?
I’ve had laser surgery done last year to get rid of the dark scars on my legs. What I got from the surgery was even larger and darkers spots that don’t seem to go away. I had stopped taking acutane a couple months before that. Don’t know if that had caused the problem. Anybody has been through the same situation or know of any reputable dermatologist who could help me?

The laser can be precisely controlled to specifically target areas. If you’ve taken accutane in the last 12-18 months or are prone to abnormal scarring in the treatment area, we don’t recommend the laser treatment.

Dr. Alder has practices on the east and west coast-you might want to discuss your case with your surgeon who should have told you about accutane and lasers.

Well from what i have seen.
No more glasses or contacts. Thats good.
Sometimes in the morning people will get a glare. Mostly in dawn and dusk.
Also at night sometimes they have problems seeing. So they might need glasses just for the night.
Hope this helps.

There are multiple forms of laser surgery for spider veins. Non-invasive laser surgery for spider veins is typically done for the facial spider veins, broken capillaries and redness from rosacea. This treatment is not considered particularly painful and topical numbing is rarely used. It is important to keep in mind that multiple treatments will often be needed but there can be dramatic results after just one.
Another form of laser surgery is Endovenous Laser Treatment or EVLT, this is often used for leg veins and larger varicose veins. In this minimally invasive procedure, a very small fiber optic laser is actually inserted through a needle into the problem vein. The laser then heats and seals the vein which forces blood to be re-routed to healthier veins and the now dead vein will be absorbed and disposed of by the body’s natural processes. This procedure will usually take about an hour and is also a low pain procedure.
Sclerotherapy is another popular treatment for getting rid of varicose and spider veins. This involves a series of injections of a solution into the vein which seals it and causes the blood to be re-routed. While this is often less expensive then laser surgery it is more painful, especially if you are not a fan of needles.
