Question by Tommy: Vision get worse through teen years?
My vision is pretty bad and measure to -2.50 Diopters. I want a surgery done called Visian ICL but you need your vision atleast impaired to -3.00 diopters. I’ll be 16 in a few months. Can I count on my vision getting just a little worse so I can gget the surgery done? I donn’t trust LASIK. Thanks
Do you know what they used to be? I know my right eye is worse than left.
I cant get the surgery done till age 21 (minimum) Wouldnt get it done until atleast 22 though.

yes. my vision got steadily worse until approximately age 20. I am currently a -4.00 and -5.25 and it’s been stuck there since age 20. But it got a bit worse every single year up till that age. My sight used to be a lot better at age 16 . Probably about what your’s is.

Question by Lix: Vision Surgery Dilemma… Suggestions or Advice?
I have been told that I should watch for RETINAL DETACHMENT. I have myopia and wear contacts of -8.00 for both eyes (yeah I know its pretty bad).
I was hoping to have Lasik eye surgery sometime in the near future, preferably after having kids (I had heard that your vision may change after or during pregnancy .. can anyone confirm this?)
I guess my question is, with all these things that could happen, should I even try to have Lasik done.
Could anyone also tell me a little more information about Retinal detachment that’s not on Wiki.
Thank you in advance.

Try WEBMD and the Mayo Clinic website. Good luck.

Question by ¸.•*´`*♥Pheebs1118♥*´`*•.¸: A few questions and concerns about eye sight, vision test?
Well I haven’t been to the eye doctor in a long time…partially because for awhile I had no insurance. So I am a little embarrassed. Well anyhow, I know I need to go but for some reason I just cant bring myself to go. I know it sounds stupid, I guess part of me knows my vision is bad, and I am just worried is it going to be THAT bad, or if something may be wrong with my eyes…idk. I wore contacts for awhile, and I know you can’t just order contacts being your prescription changes either for better or gets worse. I did get some off and on for awhile from the office I used to go to, because i used to go when I was younger ( high school ) all the time. Can anyone ease my tension about making an appointment? LOL
I have the insurance, so I really don’t have an excuse now. I more so am just concerned with what is going to happen I guess, ( since I haven’t been in some time ) or will I not be able to get contacts if my vision is too bad. I’ve also thought about the lasik surgery too. But heard alot of good and bad stories about those. Any words of advice?
